“How Great is G.R.E.A.T. (Gang resistance education and training)?: A
Review of the Article Detailing the School-Based Gang Prevention Program

A 10 page overview of the G.R.E.A.T. program and the experimental design of a paper reviewing its effectiveness. G.R.E.A.T. is an in-school program which targets middle school age children in hopes of deterring their interest in joining gangs. Despite the program inconsistencies in design and presentation a national study conducted by researchers at U.S. Department of Justice’s, Crime and Justice Research, declares the study effective.
